It's a regular thing - a new kitty will show up at the feeding station and we have to trap them, get them neutered or spayed and vaccinated. Then we have to decide if they're friendly or feral and figure out whether it's best to release them and continue to care for them (feral) or rehome them (friendly).
One night we noticed a beautiful calico kitty had shown up at the feeder, so we set a trap. Instead of that calico, we ended up with Samhain. He doesn't fit either category - he's neither feral nor friendly. Instead, he allows handling but he doesn't trust. We've had lots of experiences with kitties just like Samhain (pronounced Sow-Wen) and we know that with time and patience, he'll become a friendly kitty.
Samhain is now safe, warm, well fed, and becoming a sweetheart.
